This magical winter event is becoming a popular event for Sydney-siders each July. Once guests walked into the venue, guests were transported to Christmas Day with beautiful Christmas themed decorations and centrepieces on each table.
Comedian and radio host, Andy Pascalidis, set the tone for a fun-filled day, including asking fellow guests and well-known comedians Rob Shehadie and Tahir Bilgic to give an impromptu performance.
Some of the Special Olympics athletes showed their skills extend beyond the sporting arena as they sang and danced through a number of Christmas songs.
But the star of the show was definitely the multi-talented singer, personality and actress, Maria Venuti. She had everyone singing and dancing along with her.
Dozens of prizes were donated by Sydney businesses for the raffle to raise much needed funds for Special Olympics Australia and more than $6,000 was raised on the day.
Special Olympics started 40 years ago and now provide sporting opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in 170 countries around the world.
In Australia, Special Olympics currently has over 250 sporting clubs providing activities for approx. 4000 athletes. But the benefits of participation go beyond sport. They provide the athletes with valuable life skills.
