Convict Footprints will be performed at the farm throughout January and the convicts will be back on Australia Day, roaming around the park, making mischief while keeping free of the clutches of the ever-watchful Red Coats.
Convict Footprints is a unique living history theatre production company that tells the story of convicts that lived and worked throughout the Sydney Hills in the early times of Colonial settlement.
Convict Footprints Director and Actor Jerry Retford said that it’s the sugar that helps the medicine of history go down.
“It’s been referred to as theatre in the wild which is a lovely way to describe what we do. We present living history theatre in a very engaging and immersing way,” Retford said.
“We really takes people back to the 19th century and our actors are the real people from the 19th century who seemingly never break character.”
“On Australia Day we’ll have convicts, red coats and even Lieutenant Percy Simpson running around the Park and we envisage that the convicts won’t be very well behaved at all. They’ll be pickpocketing, thieving and generally making mischief. It will be a lot of fun.”
“Bella Vista Farm is a perfect location for the Convict Footprints as it’s a living example of what life was like in the early colonial days and even has sheep running around. It’s a brilliant location.”
Convict Footprints will perform two-hour shows at Bella Vista Farm Park on January 9,10,11, 16,17, 18 January and will be part of the amazing activities in store for visitors to the farm on Australia Day.
